Deep Ellum Sneaks!

Last weekend, I had the chance to go down to Deep Ellum to photograph a couple super fun families!  The first session was for a precious little girl’s upcoming 2nd birthday.  I first met her when she was just a little thing, only about 4 months old! <3  She’s going to be a big sister soon, so I can’t wait to see her grow in her new role!

Next was one of my newer families. I did their Christmas pictures and little man was not having it! lol But I won him over this time. And he had an upcoming birthday, turning 3 the next weekend AND is going to be a big brother soon! So excited to have these new little clients on the way!

January Bookings and Valentine’s Mini’s :)

Hello lovelies! :)

I am starting to book up for January. I am only working two weekends this month on only on Sunday’s. I am not available the last weekend of the month at all. So…. if you want to book, let me know! I am going to be in Deep Ellum next Sunday for a couple of session and I’ll be at the Arboretum the 20th for a morning session. I can still take a few more sessions at these locations, but I have the rest of those days if those locations don’t work for you.

I will also be posting Valentine mini’s for the first weekend in February (the 2nd and 3rd). Those spots will be limited, so if you know you want in on that, please PM or email me and I’ll make the spots available to you first before posting here.

Thanks again for all your support through the years! ♥

The Olivia Act

We all know about the horrific school shooting that took place in Newtown, Connecticut.  Right before Christmas, I heard about a photographer who had heard a story out of Newtown and was inspired.  The story was about Olivia, one of the young victims.  Her family had hired a professional photographer for a family session just before they were struck by tragedy.  Can you imagine what those photos mean to them today?  They have become worth more than all the money in the world to them.

From this story, a photographer (who has remained anonymous), started The Olivia Act.  A simple idea that in honor of young Olivia, photographer might offer a free session to a family that may not otherwise be able to afford it.   It’s such a simple thing, but could mean more than we’d ever know to a family.  This one simple idea went viral on Facebook.  With photographers all over the world taking nominations and donating sessions to families.  What an amazing testimony to how one act can change the world!

I knew immediately this was something I wanted to offer and a simple way that I can give back in honor of those in Newtown.  I posted on my Facebook page, asking for nominations of families.  I received 4 nominations. I’ll be honest.  I had hoped for more.  I was a bit disappointed at first.  But, each nomination was a family that was so deserving and their story touched and moved me.  So, I’ve decided not to draw names, but to offer a free mini session to all 4 nominees.  I will be emailing out a gift certificate to the person who nominated the families, so that they can let them know they won.

I look forward to working with these families and getting to know them better.  I am quite sure that I will be the one receiving more from this experience than I could ever imagine.

Love is in the air! <3 <3

A couple of weekends ago, I was lucky to have great weather for Valentine’s Day mini sessions.  Not only were the days beautiful, but the kids were adorable and cooperative!  But they weren’t all just kids, I also got to photograph a former co-worker and her valentine. :)  I do love my job! :)

Little ray of sunshine!! :)

Seriously! <3  How cute is this newly 1 year old?!  His session was scheduled on a day that turned out to be less than, um, nice.  It was cold and drizzly all day.  Driving down to the shoot, I was praying that it wouldn’t start pouring.  Turns out, this little Pacific Northwest baby was just fine with the weather! lol
