I have been in this photography game for almost 9.5 years now! I can't believe how quickly the time has passed. My youngest will be 11 in August and it was after his birth that I became more serious about photography. I got my first DSLR (I was still using film with my other two or a cheap point and shoot digital camera) and I began spending any free time I had learning how to use it. I joined online photography forums, I picked the brains of my photography friends and I took a LOT of pictures.

Finally, in January of 2009, for our then 10 year anniversary, my husband and I went to Cancun. I took my camera and decided that I was going to shoot completely in manual. It was a challenge to myself. If I could produce good images, I would start my business when I got back home. Thankfully, I rose to the challenge. And Amy Mathews Photography was born!

Since then, I have watched this business grow, and I have watched my clients grow! Some of my first clients now have kids and I'm watching their babies grow! I've been there through the births, the deaths, marriages and divorces. It's been an amazing ride and a humbling experience to have people trust you to capture their family's most important memories and moments.

I decided it was time for a fresh look. I have a new logo, new website and a new blog! Here are some of my favorite non-traditional pics through the years. :)
